День победы, Victory Day in Russia, the anniversary of the country’s victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
Across the whole of Russia citizens commemorate the deaths of millions of people who lost their lives and praise the courage of the soldiers who protected their country from Nazi invasion.
In St Petersburg, military processions made their way down Nevsky Prospect during the day whilst the evening was marked with fireworks and street parties.
A sense of immense patriotism was felt throughout the day amidst the jangling of gold medals, the gratifying shouts of citizens celebrating and the rhythmic stamping of boots proceeding along the streets of the city in remembrance.
The sun is out, and we’re swapping snow boots for elegant slippers. Carve a sophisticated path in tough spikes, regal embroidered crowns, horoscope-themed adornments and sequinned skulls.
